The most useful map connects a business service to the infrastructure and providers required for it to work. It should reveal shared components that could affect several services at once.
The worksheet is intentionally simple. Use its output as a starting point for a fuller diagram or service catalogue.
Details to add in a formal record
- Service owner and technical owner
- Location, account or region
- Authentication and management dependencies
- Recovery time and recovery point objectives
- Monitoring and escalation path
- Last failover or restoration test
